This website is dedicated to consumers and stakeholders who want to learn about our values and commitment to quality and sustainability.
We are the European leader in the canned tuna market and among the most relevant players in the global industry. Our products are sold in over 60 countries worldwide.
Our production mainly takes place in the plants located in O Grove (Spain), Cabo de Cruz (Spain), Quimper (France), Manta (Ecuador), Agadir (Morocco) and Cermenate (Italy). The latter is the largest and most technologically advanced production plant in Europe and one of the world’s top canned tuna processing facilities.
Our Milestones

2009
We were among the founders of the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF), the most important international non-profit organization for sustainable tuna fishing.

2012
We launched our first sustainable tuna product: Rio Mare Pole & Line Tuna, now available in many countries.

2017We started a transformational partnership with WWF, with the goal to source 100% of our tuna from MSC certified fisheries or from credible and comprehensive Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs) by 2024.

2020
We were the first Italian company in the world to partner with Oxfam, with the goal of implementing new social enterprise sustainability standards in the fishing industry. Additionally, Isabel brand became the first in the world to certify all its tuna in compliance with the AENOR Atún de Pesca Responsable standard. -
2024
Together with the University of Bologna, we joined a Horizon2020 project to promote technological innovation in fish waste and maximize its use for human consumption.

2011
We launched our “Responsible Quality” Corporate Social Responsibility program, aiming at conveying to our stakeholders the concept of 360° Quality through four pillars: fishing, producing, people and nutrition.

2015
We were the first Italian company and among the first in the world to obtain ISO22005 certification for the traceability system of our tuna loins supply chain. We also launched under the Rio Mare brand, the first range of FAD Free and MSC products.

2018
We made a commitment with Greenpeace to source, yearly, 50% of our tuna using selective fishing methods and 50% from purse seiners with FAD management measures in place.

2022
We joined OnFoods Research and Innovation for Sustainable Food and Nutrition, a partnership for the Sustainable Development of Food and Nutrition, funded under the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
