Nutritional benefits of fish

There are several reasons why fish is one of the best options for a healthy diet.

Here are eight reasons why eating fish regularly is important.

  1. Regular fish consumption is recommended by all national and international guidelines for healthy eating.
  2. Fish provides a combination of high-quality proteins and a low level of saturated fats, which many recommend limiting intake of.
  3. Fish is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, a content that appears to help reduce vascular diseases and mantain good mood, a major factor of overall quality of life. Some studies show correlation between Omega-3 consumption with a reduction in the frequency of depressive episodes and potentially protecting against age-related cognitive decline. Unlike plants, fish provides these fatty acids in “ready to use” form.
  4. Fish protein offers more than healthy fats, it also appears to have an added advantage: it is highly satiating due to its protein rich meat and vitamins. Tuna in oil provides about twice as much vitamin B12 (5 vs 2 μg) and 20% more protein (25% vs 20%) comapred to beef tenderloin.
  5. Individuals who eat fish tend to consume fewer animal product, which appears to be more environmentally friendly.
  6. Fish is cooked in a way that respects its composition (it is only boiled). It is packaged in portions tailored to the needs of the average consumer, helping reduce food waste.
  7. Fish is rich in vitamins such as vitamin A, B and D.
  8. Tuna, like other fish, contains selenium, a mineral essential for maintining normal thyroid function and, more generally, for controlling oxidative stress, a key factor in the aging process.

We believe that brands like ours should play a key role in promoting correct nutrition through initiatives aimed at our products’ nutritional and qualitative appreciation.

An essential step in these initiatives was implementing various studies on the consumption of canned fish.
One interesting finding is that canned fish offers the same health benefits as fresh fish. Both contain the same nutrient-rich properties that make fish an essential element in a balanced diet. The fish canning process has minimal effects on micronutrients and shows that canned fish is a valid alternative to fresh fish. Not only canned fish is equally nutritious, it is also pre-seasoned, ready-to-eat, high-quality and safe.
